Sixties — Abstract Panels from Portuguese Tile Heritage

The Sixties collection brings together abstract compositions created from authentic vintage azulejos produced during the 1960s and 1970s — a period when Portuguese ceramic factories began experimenting with bold geometry, rhythm, and modernist aesthetics.

These panels are composed from original tiles manufactured by historic Portuguese factories such as Carvalhinho and Secla, whose designs reflect the spirit of mid-century modernism. Many of these patterns were originally created for architectural interiors, where color and repetition played a defining visual role.

Each composition is carefully assembled from vintage elements, allowing shapes, colors, and textures to interact in balanced arrangements. What once existed as functional wall tiles becomes a structured visual surface — graphic, rhythmic, and distinctly modern in character.

Because these panels are made from authentic vintage material, subtle differences in glaze, tone, and surface remain visible. These natural variations are not flaws, but evidence of time and production methods unique to mid-century ceramic manufacturing.

The result is a series of panels that feel both historical and contemporary — rooted in Portuguese industrial design heritage, yet visually suited to modern interiors.
